Recommended Message Groups

Message Groups are a group mailing list that you join. Joining one or more of these can be extremely helpful simply because these are REAL people sharing their REAL problems or/and solutions they may be having with their adoptive children.

Yahoo! has a HUGE section dedicated to Adoption in their message groups*.

General

Find a message group with members that adopting from your orphanage. Most orphanages have messages groups these days. You just have to find them!

HaitianAngels*
This is a HUGE list is for those who are interested in Haitian adoption, for those in the process of adopting and for those who already have their children home. It is also a great place for anyone that is just in the 'thinking about it' stage. The current members to this list hold a wealth of information.

InfoHaitianAdoption *
This is a smaller group that was created to help anyone interested in finding out about adopting from Haiti. They are a group of parents who have either already adopted from Haiti, or are currently in the process of adopting.

gen-x-adopt *
This list is for adoptive parents, domestic or international, where one or both parents are in their twenties and thirties. You may be in any stage of the adoption process to join this group--even just thinking about it!

singleparentsadopting*
A site for single parents starting their adoption journey, and parents during and post adoption. Support group for single parents.

Older Children

A_O_K *
Adopt_Older_Kids is for anyone who desires to share, learn, listen, support and be supported by others who have been or desire to be touched by the adoption of older children (non-newborn). Domestic, international, special needs, fost-adopt, adoptees, parents (singles and couples), foster parents, adoption related professionals are all welcome. Parenting the older adopted child comes with some unique challenges. Those not parenting these children don't always understand. This mailing list is a place for us to come together and learn from and support one another with these issues.

older-child *
OLDER-CHILD is an off-shoot of ICHILD (India adoption, information, support and resources) and is a list specifically for families who have adopted older children. It is a place to discuss the issues that can be specific to older child adoptions.
