Located near Luly, the area's largest fishing village, about 45 minutes (when there is no traffic) from Port-au-Prince. Kyona is a sandy beach, and offers a restaurant and bar. Twenty four rooms are available, with ceiling fans. Lots of space for children. Boat rides offered by area fishermen to Les Arcadins, a natural marine preserve consisting of three small unhabited islands surrounded by coral reefs, about an hour's sail from the coast. If you go to Les Arcadins, remember that taking coral and shells is illegal!

The Montana Hotel has an AT&T USA-direct line, which facilitates international calls. This hotel was a favorite watering hole for journalists and T.V. crews during the embargo and intervention. Uninteresting architecture, but nice patio areas for conversations and drinks outside. This hotel is a favorite for consultants and business travellers as well as tourists. Grand Old Victorian House Built As A Presidential Summer Palace, Occupied By Us Marines As A Hospital And Eventually The First Hotel In Haiti. Large Tropical Gardens And The Ocean Provide Views From Wide Cool Verandas. The Bar Is Famous For The Literary And Theatrical Greats That Have Lounged Here. No this is not Club Med, but if you want a unique experience the Hotel Oloffson has it. I went with a group of people in February of 2007 and throughly enjoyed my stay. The food was good, the room was clean, and the service was above average. El Rancho is more like a Palatial Private Estate than a hotel. In fact it was the home of Albert Silvera-the World-Renowned Collector of Classic Automobiles-who in 1950 decided to convert it into the most elegant resort in Haiti. The hotel has 82 rooms and 5 suites, fully air-conditioned; they have a view of the mountains or on the two swimming pools embedded within exotic gardens. All rooms are equipped with a shower and/or a bath.
Satellite TV, long distance phone, and Internet access and in room safes complete the equipment of bedrooms and suites. In addition the suites have a refrigerator. Each room is elegantly decorated with a blend of Haitian art, crafts and furniture, as well as with modern and antique objects and furniture. Moulin Sur Mer is a sandy beach, and has a restaurant and bar. Fifty rooms, mostly air conditioned. Gardens developed around an colonial-era sugar mill. Lots of space for children, tennis courts, fresh water pool.
Tropical paradise . . . This is more than a hotel. It's a resort with a wonderful beach. The bar and restaurant are excellent. There are sports facilities available and the water can't be beat. It's way out of town so is very quiet and peaceful. If you are going to Haiti and don't want to deal with the city, this is a great place to stay. Country, beach, mountain living at its best. The staff is very accomodating.
The location makes Moulin sur Mer a standout. They have swimming, kayaking, wind surfing, snorkeling and horseback riding available. There is also a separate swimming pool. If you need something educational, there is the sugar plantation museum on the grounds too.

Not only was one of the most beautiful places we have been, but also one of the safest. Staying there, we felt like at home, and as antique devotees this hotel was the right one. In fact, the well furnished rooms, the amazing courtyard with flowers hanging from the old trees, and the features of the building make this hotel a unique place.

La Jacmelienne is located on a picturesque beach, but we do not recommend swimming there this year: the city and hotel still need to make more effort keeping the water clean and healthy for swimmers. The Jacmelienne's beach is great for walks, though. We will review the situation again in a few months. La Jacmelienne is within walking distance of the center of Jacmel.
